The Daniel Sokoloff Memorial Scholarship

In memory of Daniel Sokoloff, The Richard and Lynne Kaiser Family Foundation are the generous sponsors of two Apprenticeships at Jasper Hill Farm in Greensboro, Vermont each season.

As Daniel's family explains, there are people in the world who like food and there are those who love food — Daniel adored food of all types, as long as it was delicious! Daniel, an alumni of Murray’s Cheese Shop like Anne herself, could spend 10 minutes talking about a single bite. He had knowledge and passion for gastronomy, both highbrow and lowbrow, and spent his years on earth tasting and teaching. Daniel, who passed away from cancer about a year ago, was also a family man of the first order and devoted to his wife Martha and their three children who are growing up to be as unique as Daniel himself.

To honor Daniel, his family is supporting ASLF to send young adults to farms to spark a passion in food the way he had. By lowering the barrier of entry to work on farms, the Daniel Sokoloff Memorial Scholarship will expand our network of paid labor that will provide free work to rural farms, urban farms, and Native American farms around the country.
